Convalescent plasma is the blood from recovered patients, and in therapy it is transferred intravenously to the people who do not have antibodies to the disease and can therefore get immunity. So, basically plasma is the yellow, liquid part of blood that contains antibodies. And antibodies are proteins made by the body in response to infections. Here, the convalescent plasma from patients who have already recovered from corona virus disease (COVID-19) may contain antibodies against COVID-19. And FDA has issued an emergency use authorization for the use of convalescent plasma in hospitalized patients because it is being investigated for the treatment of COVID-19 because there is no approved treatment for this disease.
