Ataxia is a neurological condition characterized by a lack of muscle movement, either partially or completely. A gait irregularity is a common symptom of ataxia. The anomalies of the condition, according to studies, are caused by dysfunctions of the cerebellum, a portion of the neurological system that regulates muscular movements. Ataxia can be unilateral or bilateral, meaning that it affects only one side of the body or both sides.
